Chef Jehangir Mehta is the chef/owner of the New York city restaurants Me and You, and Graffiti Earth. He has been a participant in Food Network’s Next Iron Chef Redemption 2012, the runner-up at the Next Iron Chef 2009, a participant on Iron Chef America and a guest on Martha Stewart Living. Known for his signature eclectic style and food sustainability initiatives, he uses an array of unusual ingredients and spices to create an interesting juxtapose of temperatures, textures and tastes. The popularity of his distinctive style led to a Zagat food rating of 4.6 on 5 for Graffiti in 2017, and 28 on 30 for the years 2016 and 2015. In 2016 Graffiti was listed at #11 in the 50 best restaurants in NYC.

Apart from his restaurant Graffiti Earth which focuses squarely on sustainability, be it by way of sourcing unwanted damaged produce, or using crockery sourced from family and friends, Chef Mehta also leads the dynamic sustainability program called “Chef Jehangir Pledge” at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Through the “Pledge of the Day,” students, faculty members and visitors take on a range of activities that promote sustainable living. These range from food waste reduction, to an increase in physical activity. Chef Mehta is a frequent speaker on “Sustainability” at all major food conferences.

Chef Mehta is a council member for “Menus of Change” an initiative of the Culinary Institute of America, the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Google. He is also the Chef Ambassador for both, Beyond Celiac, (formerly known as the National Foundation of Celiac Awareness) and the Mushroom Board, and tours the country extensively to promote these causes. Chef Mehta has been a guest chef on the cruise liner Holland America.

Fifteen years ago, Chef Jehangir Mehta was a pioneer in ushering in the idea of children’s cooking with his “Candy Camp” class. Since then he has done a national promotion with Whole Foods for inculcating healthy eating in children with the “Kids Food Adventure with Chef Jehangir” initiative. He has also partnered with Scholastics, the Children’s Museum of Manhattan, the Kids Food Festivals, and runs his own initiative

“Gastro Kids After School”. Chef Mehta also partners with “Wellness In The Schools” at PS 107 in Brooklyn and PS 33 in Manhattan.

Prior to his own restaurant soiree, he was the highly acclaimed pastry chef at some of New York City’s finest restaurants including Aix, Union Pacific, Mercer Kitchen, Compass, and Jean-Georges. Chef Mehta is the author of Mantra: The Rules of Indulgence (Harper Collins). He also runs a successful event management business that does catering for private events and weddings. He is an alumni of the Culinary Institute of America Hyde Park, New York.
